We will be relocating to a new office just off Caledonian road early in the New Year, so once we’ve settled in feel free to pop by and check out our new surroundings. In February we will be attending the eZ Partner conference in Lisbon and in April, we’re exhibiting at the 20th Internet World show. With these and lots of other activities planned, including our 10th birthday celebrations in October it should be blast. There is no doubt we’ll have more breakfast meetings in the future to celebrate the future release of eZ Publish 4.7 and 5.0 which are both scheduled to be launched in 2012!

In 2011 our business continued to grow and we saw the appointment of a number of new faces within the team. 2012 looks to be no different with continued growth on the agenda, so watch this space.

We will leave you all by wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season, whatever you will be celebrating, enjoy the time off work and be merry...2012 is going to be special!

Last week saw the UK launch of eZ Publish 4.6 at the PPA offices in London and what a way to kick things off in the UK!

Digitize-Your-Business_frontpage_story_item

The event saw Stuart Wilkinson: Global Manager of Media and Publishing and Bertrand Maugain: Director International Business Development, host and speak at the eZ Publish 4.6 launch and explain how the new eZ London office will being recruiting for a country manager and developers to help grow the eZ ecosystem in the UK within the coming year.

The much anticipated eZ Publish 4.6 was launched with a raft of features including the App readiness with a new "Mobile Kit" and the launch of two new eZ Market Place items: eZ Recommends/YooChoose and Odoscope.

YooChoose is a recommendation engine, that tracks a users behaviour to match content and recommendations based on their browsing habits. Odoscope is an analytics module that helps you understand the traffic behavior across all web properties within the organisation - particularly if you have multiple sites you are monitoring.

Demonstrations of some of the key “Web First” features were shown including case studies of companies who are using eZ Publish to publish online first then exporting the content to their print templates.

The main focus of the launch was to highlight that you can get your content working harder for the benefit of not only the users, but advertisers too.

Vision with Technology’s own Tony Wood took to the floor to talk about Paid Content Strategies. He identified the 5 main paywall strategies that Vision with Technology have encountered over the past 9 years as eZ Publish partners and how to get them to work for you. You can view Tony’s presentation below.

Iain Adam’s of Circdata, also gave a talk on Single Customer Views and how eZ Publish and your CRM can work together to provide you with a single repository of your users behaviour to give you the fullest insight into your customers.

Last month saw Vision with Technology turn 9 years old and we celebrated an incredible year the only way we know how to: by eating a 9 course meal!

Vision with Technology was founded by Tony and Helen Wood in 2002 and since its humble beginnings, the company has come a long way. We have an ever growing team and client base and our proud to be the leading provider of eZ Publish solutions within the UK.

This year has seen us develop the 'The Banker' website for the Financial Times which won the eZ Publish award for “site of the year 2011”. In addition we also delivered the high-profile Renewal Heat Premium Payment Application system for the Energy Saving Trust and developed and rolled out their new website.

As with most birthday's, we celebrated, but only after we had done a last minute deploy. We had amazing cupcakes made with little "9's" on them and had an incredible feast at Sen Nin, who happily created a custom made 9-course meal for us (a course for each year of the company) and tested our egg flipping skills. As food fatigue started to set in, we headed off to dance the night away.

With our 10th birthday next year, I better start preparing myself for a 10-course meal!

Last week saw people from across Europe gather for one of the best integrated marketing conferences at London's Olympia: mediaPro.

The turn out for mediaPro was fantastic, with brilliant talks and keynotes that had people queuing  including: Bauer Media, Shortlist Media, Nokia, Time Out, Arsenal, Google, 02, EMI Music and our very own Random House Publishing's Good Pub Guide, to name but a few.

Over at our stand we had lots going on with eZ Systems, from demonstrations to competitions to free chocolates, we also managed to squeeze in a survey on an abacus!

Whilst at mediaPro we were also proud to announce that the latest versions of eZ Publish, 4.6 will be released on Tuesday 22nd November 2011.

mediaPro was a nice way to end our conference-packed year. We had a blast and hopefully we'll see you there next year!

So another eZ Publish conference is over and what a year it was - possibly one of the best eZ Publish conferences ever!

The conference started with a bang at our meet the speakers drinks at Carbon. We were joined by, Greg McAvoy-Jensen, Simon Wan, Maxime Thomas, Bjorn Dieding, Gilles Guirand, Tony Wood, Martin Bauer, Paul Borgermans and Rasmus Lerdorf to name a few.

IMG_0571

The first day of the conference saw Gaberiele Viebach kick off proceedings with her keynote "eZ Publish enables the next generation content business model - modern platform characteristics". Then people had to decide which track to attend for their next session: business or developer/community?

The talks on offer this year were some of the best the eZ conference has seen. On the first day of the conference we had talks from, Daniel Kraft from fridge & company tackling "Beautiful Dialogues in a Social World", Derick Rethans and "Profiling PHP Applications", Pete Dodds from the Financial Times talking about "Paid content at Financial Times", Brian Garvey from Rackspace discussing “OpenStack”, Simon Wan from Wall Street Journal in Asia leading a keynote on "The web strategy of the Wall Street Journal in Asia", and Paul Borgermans"taking eZ Find beyond search", to name a few.

The evening of the Thursday 16th June saw the legendary eZ Publish awards ceremony. It was held at Milbank Tower and guests were welcomed to a cocktail reception before the awards ceremony took place. Well done to all whom were nominated and a special hurrah to all the winners.

Once the awards ceremony was over, everyone headed to the after party which had some breath taking views of London. Once the party was over at Milbank Tower, most people headed back to Carbon to party until we were thrown out in the early hours of Friday morning.

Margaret Ann Dowling, Managing Director from Marquard Media Hungary, had a big job on her hands presenting the following morning's keynote, "The challenge of small and medium sized publishers : managing the content of many brands. The example of Playboy and Instyle at Marquard Media", but she did a great job and the added prize of spotting the mistake within her presentation with the winner getting a trip to the Playboy Mansion in Hungary ensured everyone started the morning on top form.

Again, Friday had an amazing line up of speakers including, Rasmus Lerdorf talking about "PHP in 2011", Marc Czieslick from Hyperload Design speaking about "From intranet via extranet to internet-projects in the financial industry", round-two for the community flash talks and not forgetting our ever own Tony Wood, talking about "lessons learnt whilst working with eZ Publish for 9 years and the results will benefit everyone" and Martin Bauer giving one of the last sessions of the day on "Scrum, The Financial Times & eZ Publish".

The conference closed with a Hackathon in the developer/community track and a break-out session for business partners.

A big thank you to the eZ conference organisation team and our co sponsors Rackspace, for helping make the eZ conference & awards 2011 here in London a blast!

I think I managed to get about 3 hours worth of sleep from Wednesday through to the end of Friday, but I wouldn't change a thing.... roll on next year...

Don't forget, you can vote for where 2012's conference is held (hint: Vegas) and give eZ your feedback on this year's conference. To re-live some of the memories from this years event, head on over to our eZ conference 2011 gallery.
